It’s been a very very very very very very very very busy summer on my side,
loads of dj-gigs at clubs, beachparties, festivals, outdoor parties etc etc....
Also a fair amount of the usual travelling, production (not as much as i
would like though), office-work and so much more....well, i’m kinda back on
track again (no i’m not, but still ;-) so let’s get to it....let’s cut the
crap with the so called website and so, and let’s move straightforward to
the real news huh? ;-)
(3 smiley’s already, way to go benny ;-)
So besides all the earlier mentioned stuff let me sum up some of the stuff
up that has been going on in my world lately....
New mix-cd: Big
& Dirty Sounds Mixed By Benny Rodrigues
Finally (well, quite some time now i must honestly say ;-) my latest
mix-compilation Big & Dirty Sounds Mixed By Benny Rodrigues is released.
As i had the oppurtunity to mix 2 cd’s you will notice that the first cd
differs a bit from the second as the first is a bit more ‘big-room’ sounding
and schowcase you the kinda vibe i would play when playing a big more
accesible sound (but still with my benny edge offcourse ;) where the second
cd goes a bit deeper and melodic....
Big & Dirty Sounds Mixed By Benny Rodrigues also includes some own
co-productions including an exclusive one (Reel) with youngster and the
incredible talented Afrojack (with who i did some other tracks as well wich
are about to be released on some mighty fine labels, more about that later
on ;-).
Big & Dirty Sounds Mixed By Benny Rodrigues is definitely not the deepest of
the deepest, the hardest of the hardest, the most commercial sounding of the
most commercial ones etc etc but a good bit of all and everything in between,
you know me ;-)
I’m very happy to present you Big & Dirty Sounds Mixed By Benny Rodrigues
and hope you like it as much as i did with doing this project.

New record: Darko Esser & Benny Rodrigues- Slaapgebrek
Yep, a new record by my big buddy Darko Esser and myself is released,
‘Slaapgebrek’ is my 2nd official release and follows up ‘paradox’ (released
by ex-Underworld-member Darren Emerson’s legendary Underwater imprint.) also
produced with Darko.
The original mix is heavy, it’s not for the faint hearted, especially after
the breakdown it will blow your speakers out so watch out, it’s heavy! love
it or hate it ‘Slaapgebrek’ is here to stay! ;-P (for the ducth ones....also
literally :-(
The ‘Laboratoire Subtile’ mix goes deeper and deeper into Detroitish vibes
and could be best described as a honest tearjacker....for the emo-moments
;-)
Slaapgebrek is released on Darko’s amazing Wolfskuil Records (also check out
the other releases on this magnificent freestyle techno label) and is
getting some great support by various artists around the world such as:
Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Hernan Cattaneo, Anja Schneider, Claude Von
Stroke, Len Faki, Slam and many more! See below for pressrelease and quotes.....:-)

the original. So original. So crunchy but laidback at the same time. Will
support this one these coming months."

Ok, so next to the release of my new record and mix-cd i obviously still
toured around quite a lot with many gigs in Holland, Spain, Turkey, Greece,
Italy, Uk, France etc etc, next to the regular clubgigs i’ve also played
various festivals such as: Mysteryland, Rockit, Free Your Mind, Latinvillage,
Emporium etc etc etc etc....
Offcourse each and every gig is special (or shitty) in it’s own right but i
would like to share 2 special dj-gigs from this summer experiences with you....
Benny Rodrigues
plays @ Cocorico (Italy’s nmr 1 club!)
Plays?....played i mean ;-) On Saturday August 23rd after my gig @ the
mighty Mysteryland festival i had to rush to the airport to catch my plain
for my 1st gig in italy, not just a gig but a gig in Italy’s nmr 1 club
Cocorico, Riccione.
To give you a small example, Cocorico line-up in August included: Richie
Hawtin, Danny Tenaglia, Sven Vath, Shlomi Aber and many others....,
oh....and somewhere there in between it was me ;-)
It was a great energetic gig with a full-on crowd and pumping music ;)
Thank you Francesca, Davide and all @ Cocorico for a great Italian
experience, hopefully next time i’ll find some time to eat some proper
italian food ;-)
Benny Rodrigues
plays @ Creamfields!
Yep, that wasn’t a joke, after missing my flight in Italy (argh....) i
played at the legendary Creamfields festival in Liverpool, UK.
Ok ok....it was the Dutch stage i’ve played for but still ;-) Together with
a fine host of Dutch artists and friends we didn’t quite exactly killed the
floors (lol) but oh boy, did we had some fun! ;-)
Well, enough about the past....what’s happening in September?
Benny Rodrigues plays Spinclub @ Space, Ibiza!
For those who remember, Spinclub is a concept from German tech-meister Chris
Liebing throwing very very very very cool parties around the world with
various interesting guest-dj’s + resident-dj’s (wich i’m proud to be one of
them myself :-)
After a full-on weekly residency last year @ the legendary Space Ibiza club,
this year Spinclub will take place on Tuesday 16th September with offcourse
Chris Liebing, the one and only Radioslave (when will he produce a bad
record? damn!) and me, myself and moi :-)
For those of you hanging out in Ibiza around that time, come and join us at
Spinclub for a great party!
Ps: I think i forgot to mention it last year but Chris Liebing and team also
produced a wonderfull Spinclub CD/DVD wich includes great memories and music....check
out the teaser and buy it now! ;-)
Benny Rodrigues
plays Pokerflat Labelnight @ Watergate, Berlin!
Again, this in not a joke! Pokerlat labelboss and outstanding dj/producer
Steve Bug invited me to play his Pokerflat Labelnight in the legendary (again
that word huh? ;-) Watergate Club, Berlin.
You can imagine offcourse that i was stunned when i got this invite and
obviously i’m looking sooooo much forward to it!
The Pokerflat Labelnight takes place on Saturday 20th September with a
huuuge line-up: Steve Bug, John Tejada & Arjan Leviste ‘live’, Argy, Martin
Landsky, Phonique, Gamal Akbar and yes yes....me again!
After the Ovum vs Pokerflat Party in Miami earlier this year (with Josh Wink,
Steve Bug, Shlomi Aber, Martin Landsky, Argy and me) this time a full-on
Pokerflat Labelnight in Berlin’s superclub Watergate!
You can imagine this is big news for me, especially since i’m a long-time
Pokerflat Records fan!
Why / how come Steve Bug invited me? who knows ;-)
After these already 2 supergigs and the other hopefully supergigs? September
also means it’s time for the annual DJ Mag Awards.
Offcourse there are many dj-awards held in each corner of the street
nowadays haha, but this one seems quite influential as it’s up to you (the
public) to decide and DJ Mag can be seen as one of the most important
influential magazines out there.
Well, everybody is a dj nowadays right? (lol) so there is plenty of names to
vote for but if you might feel for supporting me, please vote for me here (http://top100djs.djmag.com/).
If you don’t feel me, then why are you reading this?! lol
Honestly, i don’t really care wich place i’ll end up (maybe marketing-wise i
should care ;-) but i do care about the peepz voting for me (wich made me
end up last year in the top 200!) so thanks in advance for your support! :-)
ps: voting can be done untill Tuesday September 23rd so get yo ass to it!
Lots of other stuff going on ( i mean, what happened with BR Records for
example? ;-) but for now this is it, my hand is hurting from writing and
there is still lots of stuff to be done @ Benny HQ + the usual amount of
gigs so for now i’ll thank you deeply for your support and hopefully cu
around somewhere! :-)
