It’s been a while since the last update huh? Well, if you’ve seen my crazy
summer-schedule you would know why it took so long ;-)
My summer was hectic as f#$%^ with every weekday (in July & August)
‘international’ gigs (= dutch lol) in Europe, wich ment i did over 40
flights in 2 months, wich ment i had over 40h delays here and there wich
ment lots of other positive or negative energy, what i’m trying to say here
actually is that my summer was sick! :)
I didn’t even mention the weekends yet, where i played most of the cooler
dutch festivals (such as the huge honour i had of closing the mainstage for
Extrema Festival :))
Or my pumping back 2 back techno-set with Darko Esser @ Free Your Mind
Festival:
Or my closing set for Solar Festival:
Next to these 3 festival-highlights i also played lots of other cool or less
cool festivals such as: Mysteryland (where i played twice as i had to fill
in for Oscar Mulero the techno tent back 2 back with Juan Sanchez), Pleasure
Island, Rockit Festival, Emporium, Lief Festival, Riverdance and so many
others!
Oh...and what about the ‘regular’ club-gigs? Well, i did (more then) some of
that too! ;-)
Did i already mention my summer was pretty sick? If not....hereby....;-)
NEW RELEASE: KAPUCHON & BENNY RODRIGUES0 THE FINGER REMIX
EP (SPINCLUB 005)
Just before summer started Chris Liebing’s Spinclub Recordings released the
remix package of my ‘The Finger’ track wich i did with Kapuchon, the
original of this modern deep-tech builder did really good with various dj’s
around the world so Chris was more then excited to put a remix-ep out of
‘The Finger’ from some really cool producers....i mean, we all know the
quite legendary Radioslave right?
Or what about D-nox & Beckers & the other cool remixers? (DJ Emerson, Masuki
& Monoloc)....anyway....see below for the release-info and feedback we’ve
received at the time of the release :-)
SCR004 Kapuchon & Benny Rodrigues - The Finger EP
It might seem ironic that one of the possibly most chilled out and relaxed
Techno tracks in history comes from no other city than Rotterdam, originally
best known for a slightly harder sound. It took one of the veterans and one
of the most talented rookies of this city to make this happen. We are
actually at least as delighted as we are surprised!
The story goes that a few years ago, two like-minded souls met in the clubs
of Rotterdam. Benny Rodrigues the veteran and Kapuchon the rookie. They knew
right away that they had some collective work to do. “The Finger EP” is one
of the remarkable results of this co-operation.
Right from the start you can feel these guys have something to say. There is
this certain elegance in the choice of the beat sounds, which makes “The
Finger” exceptional and pleasant from the start. For a whole minute the beat
just runs with a latent promise of something big to happen. Then the first
synthesizer sounds appear in a seriously dubbed out way, flying on loads of
delay, spread out and expanding. Every single one of them develops with
clarity, substance and depth. Every effect has a destination. Sometimes the
track seems to end, just to start again in the most stripped down and
enjoyable way.
When Chris Liebing first heard “The Finger”, he signed it for Spinclub
Recordings before the track was actually over. Since then he has played it
all over the world and tested it wherever he went. With its brilliant
combination of Techno and Dub it has proven to be a reliable dance floor
filler. The additional track “The Other Finger” is an independent and
notable alternative with a House vibe and spoken vocals.
We are very exited to welcome our Spinclub/Ibiza resident Benny Rodrigues
and his partner in crime Kapuchon on our emerging label. We cannot help it
but feel pleased and blessed by this outstanding release, hoping it will
receive the attention it deserves.
Speedy J

Monoloc remix, perfect for my early hours.
Steffen Herb porno release...d-nox and radio slaves mix work for me...will play it
for sure:)
D-Nox 4 of 5 for the radio slave and the emerson remix for a more fresh and
less minimal sounding version. im pretty sure that the radio slave mix will
work the dancefloor very well as it has a massive but simple beat and groove
with its typical RS hypnotic built up. Emerson version has a very modern
tribalistic face which makes it very interesting aswell.
Dustin Zahn RS and Emerson remixes for me! When is Radio Slave not on fire? 4/5,
will play the shit out of it!
Bearweasel excellent package
Dualton

And many many other feedbacks! :)
If you missed it
somehow go find it @ the (digital) recordstores, you’ll find it @ the right
(legal!!!!) ones ;)
Well, somewhere in between things i tried to do some music by myself too and
altough there was very little time over the last couple of months i managed
to finish some new music & ‘high-profile’ remixes for some artists & labels
most of you probably will know :)
NEW UPCOMING RELEASE: BENNY RODRIGUES @ FIGURE
RECORDS!
The firstcoming project is a project i did is a release for Len Faki’s
Figure Records.
Figure Records 23 contains 2 (pretty Chicago banging!) solo tracks + 1
collabo with Kapuchon.
‘Fake Stab’ (with Kapuchon), ‘Woest’ & ‘Zomaar’ has proven to be some really
big bombs in Len Faki’s set over the last couple of months and now it’s
almost about time for you to do the thinking ;-)
Be aware, some tracks of this ep are not for the fainth hearthed! ;-) I mean,
jus google the english transition for the dutch word ‘Woest’ & you’ll get my
point straightaway! lol
More info about the release (feedback/releasedate) soon!
Next to the Figure Records release i spent my summer days doing remixes for
some really cool ‘high-profile’ artists but even better, artists i really
dig and who’s music always has been in my bag :)
I won’t mention to much yet as some releasedates still have to be confirmed
etc but let me do some quick namedropping here ok? Don’t tell anyone
please?! ;-)
Josh Wink @ Ovum Recordings (i don’t need to tell you how happy i am about
this right? ;-)
Justice VS DJ Pierre @ Afro Acid Muzik (yes folks, the real Justice that is
;-) vs the Godfather of Acid House & Filterhouse, a real legend!)
DJ Pierre
Justice
DJ Yellow, the French legend who started Yellow Productions & Africanism
(2gether with Bob Sinclar in his more ‘credible’ days lol ;-) etc etc....but
more recently master in the Tech!
DJ Yellow
Danny Howells, they used to call him the Progessive hero of the UK (check
his legendary Global Underground cd’s), but in my eyes Danny was always way
more then that! the king of all the right grooves for the right reasons.
Danny Howells
& last but definitely not least my buddie Darko Esser, that’s my homie right
there and he is about to deliver his debut album ‘Balans’ wich some
magnifecent Downtempo Electronica tracks on it wich for one of these tracks
i will get to do a remix for :)
Darko Esser
That’s quite a nice bunch right? well, i’ll keep you posted about
releasedates etc etc as soon as i know so keep your eyes and ears open ya!
:)
As you can see the studio producing works are treating me quite well & i’m
also working on lots of other stuff but let’s not give it all away right? ;)
first things first ;)
BENNY @ ADE 2009
Yep, it’s that time again....the annual Amsterdam Dance Event Conference is
taking place this year again and it seems like it’s just getting better &
better every year!
This year i’m playing 4 official ADE gigs and i pretty much chose only the
best of the best (in my taste ;).
As you can see that’s a pretty big line up right there huh? Each and every
party i’m playing for at this year’s ADE is pretty much because of the
releases i had or will have as a producer on these labelcases, so you can
imagine it’s pretty much the parties i would also attend to if i wasn’t
dj-ing their for myself hehe ;-)
Next to the parties i’m playing and attending (i’ve got a whole list!) i’m
also a speaker for the official ade-panel :)
On Saturday October 24th i will speak about ‘From Bedroom To Mainstage’ and
i will be accompanied or i will accompanie (howerer it suits you ;) Dave
Clarke (did i mention the word legend already? ;), Maarten Van Beusekom (Awakenings-booker),
Gene Farris (Chicago legend!) and others.
if you want to get inspired one way or another? you know where to be!
BENNY PLAYS OVUM-LABELNIGHT IN MILAN,
ITALY!
Yup, after the ADE (Sat 31-10) i will be playing in Milan’s best club
Amnesia for the Ovum-Labelnight with the one and only Josh Wink.
It’s supposed to be a special night (wich for me it already is anyway ;)
because of the fact the italians are celebrating Halloween.
Well, i can’t wait to see al the freaks come out in Milan! :)
With these and many other gigs the coming months you don’t have to worry
about me and my gigs as i will be on the road the coming months :)
Any other news?
- As we speak i’m working on a new mix-compilation, i can’t tell you too
much yet but keep your eyes out on the next mailing and you’ll find out ;-)
- In the summer (wich already seems a decade ago, damn!) i also got invited
to a well-known dutch television-program called ‘Spuiten & Slikken’ by BNN.
It’s a nice openminded weekly program about Sex & Drugs and i got to share
my toughts about one and another ;-)
- And the biggest news obviously is the fact that i’m not doing the whole
‘top 10/20’ no more on this site....i’ts been a while and there’s just
waaaaaay to much good music out there to piont out here so maybe another day....but
not now ;-)
Well, i have so much more to tell but you know what? i’m done for now so you
just will have to wait and check again next month ;-P
Thanks for reading my un-official newsletter (hehe) and many tnx for your
support! Later on! :-)
